Awards/ Achivements

UNESCO - Best Position Paper

(2021)

At the 2021 SMUN conference, the US delegate and I led our team of countries to revolutionize technology in education. Backed by strong evidence in a compelling document, we lost by only two votes. Although we came just short, at this conference I gained extensive skills in research and presenting as well as winning an award for the best position paper.

Industry 4.0 - Champion

(2022)

Competing alongside hundreds of students in the Industry 4.0 competition, we were tasked with finding creative modern solutions to increase efficiency. (As the designated team captain), I led my team to first place using collaborative and
planning skills while overcoming
short time limits and making difficult decisions.

Sci Tech - Silver

(2022)

Designing a basic form of assisted vision to combat the high costs of visual impairment technology (report can be found under "Artificial Sight"), allowed us to incorporate our technical skills along with our research skills. Using sonic sensors (simulating eco-location), we were able to find trends in how people respond to these signals.

Math Contests

Pascal (2019): 1st place at Danforth Tech

Cayley (2020): 1st place at Danforth Tech, top 1% global

Fermat (2021): 4th place at Danforth Tech

Euclid (2021): 1st place at Danforth Tech (among the younger age group)

Work Achievements

(2022)

Throughout my time at Jack of Sports, I received 3 awards. The first was Best Head Coach of the Week (twice). Due to creative thinking and planning which provided new and unique activities for camps. The second was for my Team Work abilities because of the connections I made with other staff.

Hockey Achievements

(2010 - 2022)

Throughout my dozen years of hockey, I've always performed well due to my perseverance and cooperation with team mates. Spanning across over 10 teams, 3 leagues and 2 versions (ice and ball hockey) I've won multiple awards including: Playoff Finalist, Playoff Champion, Season Champion, Most Dedicated, Best Team Player, MVP, as well as: Asian Hockey Championship finalist and Best Goalie

Clubs and Teams

Residence Council

October 2022 - June 2023

On Waterloo's Residence Council, I gained plenty of experience working with my university community. Since our job was working with them socially to boost morale, I learned how to gather feedback and responses so that we could make the experiences of each student memorable and positive.

Student Council

September 2020 - June 2022

As the club coordinator (in back-to-back consecutive terms), I had plenty of chances to put my management and organizational skills to use. By creating and running different events such as club fairs and winter marketplaces, I gained experience leading teams, scheduling, dealing with funds, and consulting with the community.

Eco Council

September 2021 - June 2022

On Eco Council, we worked to make the world a better place by implementing Eco-friendly practices, and with my role as Social Media Manager, I was able to give back to the earth while still using my creativity and media skills. As the Social Media Manager, I kept members informed and engaged while creating/executing new events such as battery drives and butterfly gardens.

Model UN (MUN)

September 2019 - June 2022

Math Team

September 2020 - June 2021

Participating in MUN, I was able to work on my presentation, debating, and writing skills and gained greater insight into the world around us. Through a multitude of different councils and challenges, I participated in international events.

The Math Team was an extremely competitive way for me to put my mathematics and teamwork skills to use. Our team of 5 (chosen from the entire school), competed against opposing schools through a series of math problems. Through extensive practice, our team became extremely in sync as were required to evaluate separate sections of each problem efficiently. This developed my critical thinking and teamwork skills as well as how to use each member's skills optimally.

Hobbies

Investing

I've found it fascinating to research companies, follow their path and learn about their strategies. Looking into current events and past events, such as Enron's fall, this provides me with an unique outlook and mindset.

Digital Design

I've always had a love for art but over the past couple year's I've taken to the digital world. I've used a variety of tools from Photoshop, to 3D modelling and even dabbled in 3D game design.

From modern art to digital renders to logos, all of these have allowed me to express my creativity

Magic The Gathering

With this strategy card game, I've trained my brain to solve unique and unseen puzzles. With over 50,000 different cards and effectively infinite possibilities (using data management, the figure generated cannot be computed on my calculator) I've learned how to stretch the bounds of creativity while still building my own unique identity and style. This has enhanced my problem solving skills as there is no solution that I can't find a way to creatively tackle.
